Nagios

EASI has developed a monitoring infrastructure, independent from the platforms it monitors.

This way, we can ensure control on various elements :

•	material: routers, firewalls, servers (iSeries, Windows, Linux...)
•	applications: Lotus Notes/Domino, MS SQL...
•	IP Services: POP3, SMTP, HTTP...
•	customized tasks like: services in Windows or jobs or tasks on IBM Power Systems (AS/400)

The presented tool is called Nagios and runs on a Linux station.

The purpose is to perform tests on the different aspects of the network, to control their availability :

•	are the servers active?
•	do the applications work on the server?
•	is there enough disk space?
•	does the used processor power reach a predetermined limit?
•	...

When an incident occurs, automatic actions can be launched or either you or EASI can be notified directly by e-mail, text message or other triggers.

This way, EASI can detect problems in real time and act more efficiently when an incident occurs.
